Michigan Doctor, Nurse Practitioner Accused of Health Care Fraud

A husband and wife who are health care professionals in Michigan are charged with health care fraud and altering medical devices.

They’re accused of fraudulently and inappropriately using a therapy on elderly women.

The Department of Justice says Roger Beyer and his wife Susan Wright run an OB/GYN practice in Kalamazoo.

The medical practice offers traveling nurse practitioners in Traverse City, Kalamazoo, and Grand Rapids Areas.

They’re being charged with fraudulently billing Medicare for services that their elderly patients didn’t need.

Patients may have also been charged additional co-pay’s that weren’t necessary.

The Justice Department say patients also might have received therapy with devices that shouldn’t have been used more than once.

Beyer and Wright are set to have plea hearings this Friday.
